About Us

The joint-stock company ŽĎAS started production more than 65 years ago and now has almost 2250 employees, while the annual turnover in 2016 was 90 887 thousand euro.

TS Plzeň a.s. is a subsidiary of ŽĎAS a.s. The company also has a majority share in ŽĎAS SGS GmbH based in Germany.

The production programme of the joint stock company ŽĎAS is focused on machine-tools, equipment for free forging, scrap processing equipment, hydraulic presses, equipment for the processing of rolled products, equipment for the straightening of material, inspection and straightening lines for bar processing, and piece delivery for rolling mills. The company is also specialized in production of castings from 200 up to 50 000 kg, forgings from 20 up to 9 000 kg, ingots from 500 up to 20 000 kg and also models and pressing machines especially from the automobile industry.

The company delivers the machines directly at the customer’s request. Production halls are equipped with high-quality machinery for heavy and light operation, and the mounting and testing of individual products. The modern design and development base along with international certifications are a guarantee of quality and reliability.


  • 1951 Production was launched at ŽĎAS
  • 1956 Completion of the development and launch of the production of mechanical presses of the company’s own design
  • 1959 Supply of the first continuous billet rolling mill (Čerepovec, former USSR)
  • 1963 Production launched in the biggest hall (hall 5), allowing the mounting of the hardest components
  • 1979 The first TP processor was manufactured
  • 1989 Two millionth ton of steel was cast in the metallurgical operation foundry
  • 1991 The state-of-the-art profile rolling mill was put into service in Visakhapatnam, India
  • 1992 Privatization of the company and the formation of ŽĎAS, a.s.
  • 1996 ISO 9001 quality system certification was acquired
  • 2008 The 100th hydraulic shear scissors, CNS 400 K, were manufactured
  • 2013 The operation of the new forging set was launched with the CKV 1250/1600 press and the QKK 8 manipulator
